Meet the Owner

Hey y'all, I'm Cortney Ewing, owner of Arukah Hair Loss Center LLC and the creator of Mane Luv Haircare. As a Trichologist and Hair Loss Practitioner, I study the hair and scalp and different scalp disorders.

I’m a wife, mother of six, and a woman deeply passionate about helping others overcome hair and scalp challenges. My own journey with hair loss inspired me to dive into the world of healthy hair care, and that passion led me to create Mane Luv Haircare. I’m motivated by the mission to not only reverse hair loss but also help others maintain strong, thriving hair. Through Arukah Hair Loss Center, I’m here to support you with guidance, care, and products that truly make a difference, because I’ve been where you are.

  • Holistic Approach

A trichologist looks beyond the surface of hair and scalp issues to understand the whole person. Through a holistic approach, we consider your lifestyle, nutrition, stress levels, and overall health, not just symptoms. Whether you're facing hair loss, scalp inflammation, or thinning edges, a trichologist connects the dots between internal imbalances and external signs, creating a customized path to long-term scalp wellness and hair restoration.

  • Strong Attention to Root Cause

Every scalp tells a story, and we listen closely. Instead of masking symptoms, we gently explore the deeper reasons behind hair thinning, breakage, or inflammation. From hormonal shifts to lifestyle stressors, our goal is to understand what your body is communicating, so we can support true healing from the inside out.

  • Educational Base

Education is a key pillar in effective hair and scalp care. We provide evidence-based guidance to help you understand the “why” behind your condition, treatments, and home care routine. Our goal is to ensure you feel confident, informed, and actively involved in your healing journey.

Causes Of Alopecia

Alopecia (hair loss) can be caused by a variety of factors, some temporary and others more chronic. Here are the most common causes:

1. Genetic Causes

Androgenetic Alopecia (male or female pattern baldness): The most common form, often hereditary and hormone-related.

2. Autoimmune Conditions

Alopecia Areata: The immune system attacks hair follicles, leading to patchy hair loss.

Alopecia Totalis/ Universalis: Advanced forms where all scalp or body hair is lost.

3. Hormonal Imbalances

Thyroid disorders (hypo- or hyperthyroidism)

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
Pregnancy, postpartum, menopause
High levels of DHT (dihydrotestosterone)

4. Nutritional Deficiencies

Low levels of iron, zinc, vitamin D, biotin, or protein can lead to hair thinning.

Crash dieting or eating disorders can also trigger hair loss.

5. Stress
Telogen Effluvium: Hair sheds after a physically or emotionally stressful event.
Chronic stress can disrupt the hair growth cycle.

6. Scalp Conditions
Seborrheic dermatitis

Psoriasis

Fungal infections like ringworm

Folliculitis

7. Medical Treatments & Illness

Chemotherapy or radiation.
Chronic illnesses like lupus or diabetes.
Certain medications (e.g., blood pressure meds, antidepressants, birth control)

8. Hairstyling Practices

Traction Alopecia: From tight hairstyles like braids, ponytails, or weaves
Overuse of heat, chemicals, or relaxers
Infrequent scalp cleansing or buildup

9. Environmental Factors

Exposure to harsh chemicals or toxins
Poor air or water quality
